If you're a fan of trucks, Ram has announced that and Q3 of 2013 it will become the only brand offer a small displacement diesel in its halftime line of pickup trucks. The truck will be branded as a 2014 Ram 1500 and the available engine is a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel. The engine will be combined with an eight-speed TorqueFlite transmission.
Ram isn't offering up a lot of details for the 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine. The company does say that the engine is expected to deliver best in class fuel efficiency, best in class torque, and impressive capabilities. A engines are noted for producing an impressive amount of torque so trucks equipped with the engine are likely to be towing beasts.
The turbodiesel engine will be manufactured by VM Motori, which is a company that has supplied the Chrysler Group with a engines since 1992. Typically, in the United States diesel engines are limited to heavy duty pickups and until the 2014 Ram 1500 debuts, if you want a diesel engine in one of the companies trucks, you'll have to opt for the Ram 2500 or 3500.
