There are a few cars from TV shows and movies of my youth that were actually my favorite characters in the entire films. One of my first favorite car movies was Herbie the Love Bug. Another of my favorite TV cars was The General Lee. I also always had a soft spot for the gullwing door sporting DeLorean that was used in the classic science fiction film Back to the Future.
A museum quality restoration was performed on the original DeLorean used in the movie back to the future. With the restoration complete the car is now on display at the NBCUniversal Experience at Universal Studios. This particular car is called the "A" car and was built by the same company who built it and two others for the films designated "A", "B", and "C".
The A car was the most detailed and was used for important shots with actors, the B car was used for stunt driving, and the C car was cut up to allow for inside shots and close-ups. The restoration used as much of the original material as was available from the movie and looks exactly like it did in the 80s film.
Shane is a self described car aficionado. He loves muscle cars, but also knows how green cars work. He has years of experience in testing cars and writes about cars with deeply felt emotions.
