Chevrolet Unveils Texas Edition Silverado (in Texas Naturally)

Same package will be offered in other states minus the Texas Edition emblem

Trucks are very popular in many parts of the country, but no state favors trucks more than Texas. This fact is undeniable when you consider that many of the new pickup trucks unveiled that go on sale all around the country are first seen in Texas. Such is the case with a new special edition Silverado that Chevrolet has unveiled.

The new special edition Silverado is called the Texas Edition and it was unveiled this week in San Antonio. The Texas Edition features custom badges and 20-inch wheels as well as a trailering package. The special edition truck is powered by a 5.3-liter V8 engine producing 355 hp and capable of getting up to 23 mpg on highway.

Texas is a huge and very important market for all automotive manufacturers who produce full-size trucks. Chevrolet says that one out of every six full-size pickups sold in the country are sold in Texas. The Texas Edition gets all of the other improvements, of the 2014 Silverado 1500 models including a new wider, refined interior and exterior, and more. The same package will be offered in other states, but will be called the Custom Sport package and won't feature the Texas Edition badges.

Five of the most underrated engines and their true power

Jul 24 2014 11:10am CDT | Source: Driving Canada

Photo prise le 19 août 1970 de l'acteur
You might think that it’s advantageous for an automaker to always claim the highest possible output they can on their engines. But sometimes, in order to get lower insurance rates or sneak into certain racing classes, manufacturers underrate their engines and say they make less power than they actually do. Naturally, this leads to a lot of talk about what engines “really make.” Well, the talk can stop here because w ...

2015 Toyota Yaris Debuts: New Nose, New Dash, Still a Car

Jul 24 2014 9:20am CDT | Source: Car and Driver

SUV's, Crossover Vehicles Surpass Sedan Sales For First Time
When Toyota last redesigned its Yaris subcompact, the company launched the remarkably frank “It’s a CAR!” marketing campaign. We weren’t impressed with the campaign, but the sportified SE model did finish third out of six in a subsequent cheap-car comparison test—pretty good for being “just a car.” For 2015, Toyota has restyled the Yaris inside and out, and the company has provided a look at the car prior t ...

Wizard Con Entertainment World Convention in Madrid
For much of the spring, it seemed as if General Motors issued a new round of recalls every other day, but the automaker has been largely quiet on that front for over three weeks. Could the recall party be coming to an end? Based on a new press release from GM, the answer is probably "no". The release outlines six new recalls, ...

Mazda's CX-5 has the distinction of being a compact SUV for driving enthusiasts with excellent fuel economy and great cargo room - not your typical compact crossover formula. Making the cargo area everyday friendly are folding seats that release in two locations. There is a set of levers in the cargo area that release the folding backseat so you don't have to walk around to the rear doors to fold the seats and then walk back to the cargo area. There are also s ...
