Out of all of the Porsches ever to roll out of Germany, my favorite is the classic Porsche 356. I love the lines of the car and of always thought it would be really cool to own one. The problem is those cars are not only rare, they are incredibly expensive. A company named PGO has a name for building replica sports cars based on the Porsche 356.
The French company has unveiled its latest version called the 2013 PGO Cervennes and it has all the style of the Porsche 356 in a modern body. The 2013 model is only mildly updated on the outside, but it's significantly different on the on the inside. The car is now powered by a turbocharged direct injected 1.6-liter BMW four-cylinder engine.
That engine delivers 181 hp and 177 pound feet of torque. That doesn't sound like a lot of power, but the car weighs only a bit over 2200 pounds. Top speed is expected to be about 140 mph and the transmission is a six-speed manual. Pricing and availability for the car are unknown.
