Lotus Motorcycles C-01 Teased

Anyone who recognizes the name Lotus will associate the brand with sports cars. Lotus always makes me think about Roger Moore as James Bond and his Lotus Esprit that turned into a submarine. Lotus is currently struggling on the automotive market with slow sales and has now reportedly lended its name to a motorcycle manufacturing effort.

The first motorcycle from Lotus Motorcycles will be called the Lotus C-01. The Lotus automotive company isn't directly associated with the motorcycle operations. The motorcycles will be designed by former Volkswagen designer Daniel Simon. Lotus Motorcycles is a joint project between Simon and the Holzer Group along with automotive racing team Kodewa.

So far, all we've seen of the new Lotus motorcycle is the teaser image you see here showing a carbon fiber gas tank. The C-01 is described as a "hyper bike" with integrated racing technology. The motorcycle will use carbon, titanium, and aerospace quality steel. The only specification and has been teased so far is a power output of about 200 hp.
