Ram truck gets car-like fuel economy

Ram has announced that the 2014 1500 EcoDiesel will get the sort of fuel economy on the highway typically reserved only for cars. The 2014 1500 EcoDiesel is rated for 28mpg on the highway. Power for the truck comes from the segments only V6 turbo diesel engine displacing 3.0L.

Despite the impressive fuel economy, the 1500 EcoDiesel should also have the power to tow just about anything with 420 lb-ft of torque. The truck has an EPA rating of 23mpg combined on city and highway driving.

The 4x4 version of the truck will get best in class 4x4 economy as well with 19mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. Ordering for the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel will begin on February 7.

“The new Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is truly in a class of it’s own with 28 MPG and the ability to tow 9200 pounds,” says Reid Bigland, President and CEO Ram Truck Brand. “To put the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel in context, it gets 6 mpg better fuel economy than the best F150 Eco-Boost. Overall, the Ram 1500 Eco-Diesel has outstanding pick-up truck capability with compact-car-like fuel economy.”

Even five years ago, who would have thought the mighty V8 would be just another engine choice for buyers of the 2015 Ford F-150? Ford is projecting about 28 percent of the next-generation trucks will have the 5.0-liter V8. That's nothing to sneeze at, but consider this: Ford figures its two EcoBoost truck engines - the new 2.7-liter V6 and the existing 3.5-liter V6 ...

General Motors Extends Recalls By Over 8 Million Vehicles
Smaller recall for 2015 Cherokee, 2014 Ram for Shock MountsThe recalls just keep coming, and not just for General Motors. Almost all the automakers—particularly the Detroit Three—seem especially sensitive to any inference of safety issues and are trying to stay proactive and ahead of the curve when it comes to addressing potential problems. Chrysler is issuing two recalls: a smaller one affecting the shock and strut mounts on some 2014 Ram 1500 trucks, and 2015 Jeep Cherokees ...

2015 Ford F-150 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 Output, Towing Announced (3.5L V-6, Too)

Jul 23 2014 11:33am CDT | Source: Car and Driver

INDIA-US-DELEGATION-NANO
In announcing output and towing figures for its new twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6, Ford published a video of a towing drag race in which a 2015 Ford F-150 stomped a Ram EcoDiesel and a Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.3-liter V-8. Although we’re not inclined to get excited over manufacturer test runs—we do that stuff ourselves—taken with the 2.7’s 325-hp and 375-lb-ft output ratings, the engine is shaping up to be an appealing option taken alone. ( ...
