Prototype is much more efficient than existing electric motors

Researchers at General Electric have created a new prototype electric motor the table operate at higher temperatures than existing electric motors. Being able to operate at higher temperatures means it can be cooled with the existing engine coolant system a hybrid rather than needing its own standalone cooling system.

The electric motors also 35% more efficient and has nearly twice the power density meeting better acceleration. When fitted in the hybrid vehicle, not needing an external cooling solution would mean the car could be lighter and therefore travel further on battery power alone.
